Okay, maybe I misspoke (or miswrote). I do get into some things on friend recommendations: Sherlock, The Hunger Games, John Green books, and Monty Python, for starters.

But since I joined tumblr the amount of hype needed to cause hype backlash is achieved almost instantaneously: take DW and Homestuck as examples. I've become more wary about getting into new things because I know I'll be overwhelmed, and I prefer to enjoy things in peace.

Oh my god I feel you so hard on Tumblr. I think it's impossible for Tumblr to have a reaction to liking something that isn't extreme impossible gushing "OMG BEST THING EVER AMAZING PERFECT CHANGED MY LIFE MY FEEEEEEEEELS" praise.

OP again: It is nice when I get out of control, but I do have to admit it's a bit much. It's started to transform my IRL friends too.
