It would be nice if a vast majority didn't reflect the author's views somewhat. It may not be a memoir but it is often a window to their beliefs, whether it's intentional or not.

I mean, you don't have to write your characters as perfect human beings who doesn't everything right, but if you have a character with potentially offensive beliefs, if you don't want your story to be label as offensive, do not cosign on said character's beliefs as a narrative of the story. For example, if you have a racist character, be careful of legitimatizing his views, because those who do often cosign to those views at some level. Like you may not think a particular race of people are useless and should be exterminated, you would do think certain things against that race of people and may not even realize it.

Right.

Except I have a fictional world where two races are separate due to their physiology, and many think that one of the races should be subordinate to the other. Many others don't, but because my story is, at heart, a political drama, one of my main characters is very much in the "subordinate" camp. One of the others is not. That's a big part of my story, and it even includes some of the potentially-subordinate race who are *gasp* happy to be in that position. It includes others who think the exact opposite.

In reality I don't think anyone should be better than anyone else. People can write things out of their belief sphere, regardless of what SJWs would have us believe. -_-

The whole "Authors world = Their personal beliefs" is ridiculously childish anyways. Its called 'fiction' and 'fantasy', for a reason. Besides it's only white authors who are held to an impossibly high moral standard, and as POC guy trying to write, I find that more than a little insulting.

It's best just to write, whatever the hell you want.

" Its called 'fiction' and 'fantasy', for a reason. "

Fiction and fantasy are generally not 100% removed from reality. If it were, we'd probably have a hard time liking it on any level.

It sounds like you are handling this well.

Many authors do not. And the ways in which they mishandle issues can be insightful into the way they thought.

It... can give you insights though. Like I was reading a webcomic series and about once a year there would be an arc with a character getting shaved. It was always played for laughs, tee hee, the guy ended up bald by accident! So silly!

Then I found the webcomic artist's art account. Nothing but art of people getting shaved. The guy has a huge shaving fetish.
