At least somebody buying the book tells you 'somebody decided your work looked interesting enough to drop cash on'.

All a hit tells you is 'somebody thought it looked not-horrible enough to take the time and effort (ie, none of either) to click a link'. And, if they didn't leave some sort of feedback, for all you know they immediately clicked back.

They might have tossed your book aside after reading a few chapters even after paying for it, sure, but even a small fee like the dollar or two it costs to buy a lot of self-published books on Amazon is something most people are going to go into a lot less lightly than clicking a link for free.
