Suggestions, comments, and concerns should go here.
It's basically just a book-on-tape but without any money. No money anywhere.
Tim Curry in the Abhorsen trilogy made my very *existence* when he voiced a female dog begging for a bone.
Jim Dale gave Dumbledore a voice no actor will ever capture.
Mathew Wolf made certain character I found simply annoying in the text so over the top they became glorious. (The Dwarves by Markus Heitz, it's the last audio book I finished and I highly recommend it.)
Now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say not everyone in podfic is on the level of Tim Cury (GASP!) but it's pretty rough of you to rule an endeavor as "non art".
Plus, the "colorist" get's his/her own credit in comic books, that shit is art too.

The main one is that although it's a work that requires skill and time, it's still very different from the creative one required to create something.
I agree coloring/reading aloud/translating/etc. deserves it's recognition, but it's just not the same kind of art.
Re: It's basically just a book-on-tape but without any money. No money anywhere.
Here's my POV: Acting out a scene someone else has written is art even if the actor doesn't actually create the characters or the lines like the writer does. Are they different? Yes. Are they both art? You betcha.
Same goes for voice work. And Stunt work*. And coloring. And translating poetry.
Wow, maybe I aught to listen to some podfic as I seem to be stanning for them pretty hard.
*Seriously though, we have best adapted screen play but the guys who put their lives on the line to make a beautiful dance of explosions and speed get nothing.

He could give Mogget the voice of Nigel Thornberry for all I care. In fact I PRAY HE DID
