I think part of it is that we like seeing a smartass win in fiction, get away with saying and doing things we never could in the real world. It gives us a 'that is so awesome' reaction.
Out of those my favourite is definitely Tony Stark, and I've got to say the superpowered flying weapon suit doesn't hurt either.
