So, what it says on the tin, how many times do you wash your teeth, use mouthwash, floss, etcetera?

You know I've never seen it said that way before. huh. Usually it's "brush your teeth".

Answer: twice a day for brushing, I never use mouthwash, and I floss too damn little. Maybe once a month for flossing?

Oh I didn't think it was wrong, just assumed it was a regional thing. Don't feel ashamed!

Once when I get up, another before I go to bed. Mouthwash both times and floss before bedtime.

I brush my teeth every night. Use mouthwash before going out of my house if it's not in the morning (I get nauseous if I use it then which kind of sucks) and if I have eaten garlic or something that makes your breath smelly.
I have never flossed.

I brush in the morning and night after I've eaten. I don't use mouthwash (makes me feel ill) and floss isn't something I do often (i have toothpicks for emergency food removal in work situations)

I guess, I kind of go with the whole "don't want to kill ALL the bacteria in my mouth, just the excess ones.

I'll rinse with water throughout the day

Usually brush when I wake up/before going out of the house and brush and floss before going to bed.

Sometimes I sort of fail at the first one, though, when I have nothing to do for the day...

Generally only in the evening, when I also floss and use a fluoride mouthwash. I sometimes also just brush my teeth in the morning after breakfast if I remember to.

I never used to floss much, but then I had not one but three major cavities in my molars that I was told could have been prevented by flossing (they formed on the sides between teeth rather than on the chewing surface). Meanwhile, I've gone as long as two years without going to a dentist and have had the hygienists remark how clean and free of plague and tartar my teeth are for someone who hasn't had a professional cleaning in so long. (One of these visits was the same one where one of the cavities was discovered.) Clearly my brushing is good enough, so the cavities must have been from lack of flossing.

I was just told I have some between-the-teeth cavities too and am getting them filled next week. I'm pretty pissed about it, because I do floss. I floss usually every day. Sucks. I've got terrible teeth genes, I think.

What kind of floss do you use? Some types might be better than others for some people. My partner's mom swears by tape floss, while his dad uses a bristle-brush thing. Maybe ask your dentist if s/he has any other suggestions on preventing those kinds of cavities?

Twice a day, when I wake up and right before I go to sleep. And I try to chew Trident gum after lunch, since it's supposed to help prevent cavities. I floss every other day. I didn't used to be very big on that because my gums are sensitive and bleed, until I read a few reports that said when you did floss, you should smell it after... if the line smelled like rot and sewer and death, you had too much shit fermenting between your teeth and needed to floss more often. Since I started doing that, my awful soul-killing morning breath is vastly improved. :D

Don't chew too much gum though. I'd say not at all if it's not a hard to get rid of habit or anything.

You're possibly preventing cavities from appearing - though there are a thousand other reasons for them to appear otherwise - but you're also tricking your stomach into releasing more acid (since your brain thinks you're eating and is preparing your stomach for the food intake). Obviously more acid can lead to many other issues.

When I'm being good, I use mouthwash with brushing my teeth twice a day, sometimes only once a day, and when I'm extremely tired/lazy, none.
I very rarely floss.

Toothbrush + toothpaste at least twice a day - always after breakfast and just before bed. Sometimes I'll brush up to three to five times a day if I eat foods that stick in my teeth or could set off my sensitivity.

Mouthwash twice a day - after breakfast and just before bed.

Floss once a day - just before bed.

I brush every morning after breakfast, and every evening after dinner. I floss nightly (I got into the habit of doing it while I was wearing braces and my ortho was seeing me all the time, and then after the braces came off it was so comparitively easy to floss my teeth that I kept up with it), after my last meal of the day or right before going to bed.

Since I'm lucky enough to have lunch at home, I usually brush then as well.

No mouthwash ever, though.

I brush every morning when I wake up, sometimes before I go to bed or after dinner if I've eaten something gross/have food in my teeth/whatever. I also floss if there is something in my teeth.

I brush twice a day. I occasionally use some Listerine.

But I can't floss. My mouth is too small. Not even my dentist can floss my teeth for me. She has to get out a Water-Pik for me.

Brush twice a day, at least, maybe three. No mouthwash - can't stand it. Don't really floss because my molars all have fillings from when i was a kid, and they're, i dunno, crappy or whatever, so they're rough in between and if i try to floss i get bits of floss caught between my teeth. Not fun.

My front teeth i floss sometimes, but i have little gaps so it doesn't seem to do much good.
