I think I used to have OCD/Tourette's tendencies. The kind where you have to touch things multiple times to make it 'even'. It was pretty bad when I was a kid, and now I only get the urge occasionally - and I can ignore it if I really try.

But I don't know if I really have anything wrong with me. And I'm scared that it will come back later, because that sometimes happens.
saku: (what's the worst thing that)

i was the same way as a kid, including the evenness quirk. i had other ones too, arguably more obnoxious ones like having to say "anyway" out loud in a certain manner after finishing each thought and gritting my teeth whenever i pet an animal. most of these quirks/tendencies/what have you have faded over the years but i was a teenager when some of the more annoying ones finally subsided.

i don't know how common this is, if it's something many/most kids deal with to some extent or if it's more typical of a "disordered" person (ie. someone dealing with ocd or ad(h)d or some such), but you're definitely not alone. i'm 23 now and i don't really ever get the weird disruptive urges anymore. yours probably won't come back either.

AYRT

...That does make me feel a bit better, actually. Thank you :)

I had some OCD tendencies when I was a kid. I had a lot of trouble with intrusive thoughts, and did things like pulling out my hair. I did the "touching stuff multiple times" thing, too, though it wasn't as severe of a compulsion as, say, the hair pulling was. Though, I did feel like I had to touch things with both my right hand and my left.

I did grow out of most of it, I think. There were a couple things that lasted until I was 20 or so, but I'm 24 now and don't feel like I really have any noticeable OCD symptoms.

i was the same as saku (same age too o___o)

some things haven't faded entirely (like, double, triple, quadruple, etc. checking if I turned off a light or closed a door even though I know I totally did), but, things like, having to touch a crack in the pavement with the other foot if I stepped on it, do things in even numbers, etc. have faded away with time

Yup, same. Stepping over pavement cracks with alternating feet, stepping on floor tiles in a pattern, the direction that I was sitting, mirroring what I was doing on both sides of the body, how I lined things up...

I think it's fairly common for kids to some degree, actually. Or such has been my experience talking to other adults about it before.
