Heck, Greek gods come across the same way to me in (mythology) - or pretty much any other societies pantheons when you get down to it. (As gods they have the unquestionable right to make calls if a human was doing to another human people would generally be "that is not cool bro" about, but since gods are regarded as 'all-seeing' or doing things 'in their own time' people are more likely to forgive/hand-wave under the rug.)

Eh, given he was raised by a (demi?) goddess who killed a mortal woman's 14 offspring because the lady said her kids were better than Apollo+Artemis, he probably wasn't much learned on the concept of 'restraint' lol

IIRC the Egyptian pantheon is a little better about this. Everyone is still dickish, but the Egyptians seemed to acknowledge that.

If I'm remembering right, the Egyptian myths had a lot less about gods and humans together, so they had a lot less about gods screwing with humans for the lulz.

Greek Gods are the most unbelievable assholes. Athena's the only one who can stay, and even she had that unfortunate business with Arachne.

Actually, the Norse gods come off as pretty cool. Probably because they're so busy being gloomy and getting ready for the world to end

Or her misogyny in general - her ruling in Orestes' trial basically boils down to "Pfft, he killed his mother? So what, I'm meant to care about men killing women now?!"

She's pretty much an ultra-mysoginistic culture's idea of the perfect woman - virginal, no mother, no ties to other women at all, always sticks up for men over women, and is into war and heroes and cool things, not boring girly stuff...
