Re: Non-fandom secrets
MANY places have mental health treatment available for low income people. State and gov websites in general are shit, difficult to understand, and it can be a royal pain in the ass to find out about programs that are available. If you are willing to say where you live, I can look around and see if there is anything local to you.
Contact your state's version of DSHS. Don't call. Go in. My ex didn't have any luck with phone -- he could never get ahold of his social worker because she was so busy -- but when he went in, they had TONS of info on different programs that are available. Even if there is no state program, they should know of other local aid.
If that doesn't net anything, look up the local psych facilities and talk to them. They should have information about anything local that would be able to help.
Generally, IME, social workers and such actually do really want to help people. It is a shit job to go into if you don't. (Yes, burn-out, etc, but even still.)
And if you need someone to talk to, feel free to check my profile and contact me. I have been down the road, took me something like 5yrs from when I first suspected to get diagnosed, been on meds a couple years now and they have helped lots. I don't want to give you the whole spiel if it isn't useful, though, so, let me know.
And *huge hugs* if you want them.
