Think the language in this secret is pretty gross and unfortunate but I will admit fully that I was super interested in this show until I finally saw the art for it. :( what an absolutely terrible moe-aesthetic for what I was hoping would be a thoughtful show about post-war reconstruction efforts with a fantastical setting. so many absolutely UNNECESSARY shots of those poorly drawn breasts (see, can say it without being kind of a jerk about it), too.

Hugest let down of the season.

...Except all of the things you want out of it are there. There's just also the occasional shot of tits. It's really not even as prevalent as you make it out to be.

I'll never understand why people act like some fanservice in a show makes it nothing but a fanservice show with nothing else to offer. It's such an absurd all or nothing attitude. Also here we go with the "moe" hate. It's funny how quick people will dismiss a show based on its art, regardless of what it's actually about, solely because it has a "moe" aesthetic. Then these people call moe fans shallow. Hilarious.

If it were just the style, I could deal. See also, my deep abiding love for Madoka, which used the moe aesthetic to its advantage and was a really great show for it.

But that still doesn't explain why I'm seeing all these screenshots of a maid randomly kneading the Demon Queen's breasts? That's the kind of thing that just really, really turns me off. If it were JUST the designs and not in the writing I think I could deal better and watch the show I really wanted. But when it goes out of its way for the cheap fanservice ... eeh, I just think it's a really unfortunate aspect in the industry right now and I don't want to really support that kind of thing in shows.

Are you even watching the show? That was one scene. The way the episodes are working so far is that most of it is about the agricultural situation that Maou is trying to fix, then there will also be a bit that's more fantasy/action oriented, and a bit with the romance subplot between her and Yuusha. And well, since Maou and Yuusha are grown adults, there's going to be some level of sexuality involved in their relationship.

It's ridiculous to make assumptions about what a show is based solely on the gifs and screenshots you see. By that logic I could easily assume that the entirety of The Hobbit was about Kili and Thorin being hot, or that Durarara!! was a yaoi show.

Nope. I'm not. Because while the episode summaries and what I read of the light novels did seem really cool, and while I'd be entirely on board sexiness between stock hero and stock demon lord who is a lady (love me some political marriage action), that 'one scene' is just not my cup of tea or the kind of fanservice I'm looking for. I mean could essay about my personal issues with the moe-aesthetic, and how I think it is possible to present female sexuality in text in a way that's both hot and tasteful, and how thresholds for it differ, but I think I'll save that for a tumblr soap box post one day.

Okay, so let me get this straight. You see a gif of the Maid groping the Maou, and that alone, without knowing the context or anything else whatsoever, is enough for you to not watch the show?

That is ridiculous and it is ridiculous of you to try to claim you know a goddamn thing about the show if you won't touch it.
