Yes, there was some. It had it's own community back in the heyday. There are even some femmeslashy doujin. There weren't any juggernaut femmeslash pairings, though, but it's not like there wasn't any.

But as to be expected in any mostly sausage-fest fandom where the female characters rarely interact with each other, there's going to be a lot more slash pairings.

I certainly wouldn't characterize FMA as a sausage fest, and in fact FMA_ladyfest every year has great female friendship fics based on canon characters. There just never seems to be any femslash.

There are a fair number of female characters -- but they don't get nearly the amount of screen time or page time that the dudes do. And there are a ton of dudes. Usually it's like 10 dudes and one woman doing something in any given scene.

I wouldn't go that far, though I see your point. (Also I'd say screentime more so than page time, since almost everything that gets cut from manga to brotherhood has to do with Riza.)

Haven't seen Brotherhood. I only watched the first Anime and movie and read the manga. I've been out of the fandom completely since about 2008.
