Yeah, apparently Sheska had a bigger role in first anime? She basically only cameos in Brotherhood. I get the impression manga/Brotherhood has more female characters but with smaller individual roles and maybe less interaction. It doesn't stop people from writing female friendship fic, though, so you'd think there would be some femslash as well.
