Really? I looked at some "family tree" charts of the beta and alpha kids and I thought they were basically the same? Like, the Strider/Lalondes were always siblings and the Egbert/Harley/Crocker/English/whatever you get what I mean

but it's entirely possible I misread that. Thanks for pointing that out to me, anon.

A lot of people get confused about it. (I was too, actually, and initially didn't ship Jane/Jake for that reason. Now I have other reasons for not shipping it...)

But yeah, basically... when John was doing the ectobiology, he made exact clones of Mom, Nanna, Grandpa, and Bro. Those four are thus not related to each other at all. Then Mom and Bro's DNA got mixed to form Rose and Dave, and Grandpa and Nanna's DNA got mixed to form John and Jade. So each beta kid has an ectosibling, but the alphas don't. (And the alpha kids are still the babies created by John in the beta session.) So Jake and Jane aren't related to each other any more than someone's parents are related to each other.

I thought the babies John made all went to his session's Earth? And the "alpha" babies just went back a little earlier in time and grew up to become the kids' guardians.

part of what the scratch did was change when the babies that originated in the beta kids' session arrived on post-scratch earth-- so they're still all products of the same ectobiology session that we saw

which is probably one of the more confusing things about the scratch, really

anyway that's why we haven't seen the alpha kids do any ectobiology of their own
