I like this secret. Judging from tumblr alone, I thought I would watch the show and ship Sterek as if my life depended on it. When I actually finished watching it, though, I could only think "WHAT?!". This pairing's popularity baffles me. It's a charming show, for sure, but sadly I don't feel any desire to participate in its weird as hell fandom.

I think Sterek stemmed from the old "pair the spares" mindset. Like, it was even brought up in an interview with the cast.
Interviewer: "Well you're constantly macking on her *points between Tyler P. and Crystal* and you two are on again off again *points to Colton and Holland* so who's left? Are your characters getting together *points to Tyler H. and Dylan*"
Cast: *laughs*
Dylan and Tyler H. *wrap arms around each others shoulders*
Dylan: "Yep, totally."

Like, the cast is in on the joke of the ship. I have never been in a fandom/tv show that has no fourth wall to speak of.

This is exactly how I felt.

(tbh, I actually have gotten into Sterek fic but in my mind it all takes place in a weird alternate universe with a somewhat similar premise but different characters. Because I find some of the fic really well written and enjoyable, but I just see zero relationship to canon.)
