Do you think it's that spoilery anyhow? I mean if they'd gone a different way to canon I get that, but it went with Arthurian canon, I admit to watching with half a mind that they might change the ending, but you could see the way they were going.

It's kind of an old story, Morte D'Arthur and all.

This is me, I can't remember my password ;-;

I wasn't so much worried about spoiling the legend as obviously that's been around for a long time and most people know how it ends. What happened in Merlin followed the legend pretty well, and you could see it from a mile away, but apparently some people still didn't expect them to... You know. So, yea, I don't think it's all that spoilery considering, but I'm still irrationally afraid of someone angrily commenting on how I've spoiled them.

ARE YOU ELAM OR ARE YOU ME?

MAYBE I'M BOTH! NOW THAT THE SEED OF DOUBT HAS BEEN PLANTED IN YOUR HEAD, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW.

I get that to an extent but I wouldn't worry, it's been a good enough length of time, and I do think that the fact that you really can't spoil the Arthur story means you should be safe.

Because there was some canon they changed, I did wonder about the end, but I don't think it would have worked, you can't really end that story without the hand coming out of the lake to take Excalibur back, that bit had to happen.

Yea, I was surprised when I learned there were people who didn't expect Arthur to die. Wishful thinking I guess, and you're right in that some things changed, but I never believed the show would end any differently. And Merlin throwing Excalibur into the Lake and Freya catching it was one of my favorite scenes from the episode, which is saying a lot (I really enjoyed it); I don't think the episode would've been the same without it.

AYRT oh yes, you have to have it. Even if I think of Arthurian stories from my childhood, the lady in the lake, catching Excalibur at the end of the story was always a really powerful image. I was waiting for it as I watched the episode.

I wasn't sure about the scene of Merlin in the modern world, I don't know if it was needed, but I suppose they felt they needed to underline the point or something.
