I think you'll find that there is very little overlap between internet SJWs and real life social justice activists.

Probably a good idea. There can be good online discussion but mostly it just ends up with people insulting each other.

Yeah... I am an actual social justice activist (yes, I use the SJ term, it's faster than explaining all the volunteering and work I do) and personally I find it exhausting to get into internet arguments when I come home.

This is not even including that when I do have the time to get into it with someone, I am either dismissed as not-SJ-enough or too-much-of-a-useless-SJ.

And it just looks jerky to be like "No, really, I actually do stuff, unlike you/everyone else in this argument."

ikr who needs real-world credibility any more? That's a very sad statement, anon; not just that you're the only one who actually does stuff, but also that the others wouldn't offer you any respect for it.

There are some subjects (not saying what they are because I don't wanna get into it) that I've decided I'm just not going to touch for that very reason. Also I figure...who really cares about my opinion on those issues.

So I see no reason to bring them up just so I can be told "hey your opinion makes you a piece of shit human being". I mean damn I don't need that. Also it's kinda funny on the few occasions that I did speak up on a dicey issue in a very mild not judgmental manner "I feel this way about this personally because [reason]. it's just my opinion though. " (and note I'm a remarkably apologetic person especially when talking about something emotional and it shows.) and someone made a comment assuming that I regularly go around shouting this opinion to the world or trying to force it on others.

If I'm apologetic and nervous about mentioning it anon, why would you assume I'm all out fundie about it in real life?

I think some people on the net just get a rush telling someone that they're horrible for disagreeing with them. In real life telling a person "you're a piece of shit" or "please don't breed" for voicing disagreement would be frowned upon. It's a shame it isn't the same way here.
