Meh. Looks pretty young. I liked that Bowie physically looked older than Sarah--it was another deterrent for people who think that OMG they belong together FOREVER, rather than picking up on the fact he was a freaking psychopath who had likely been tricking girls to populate his goblin horde and playing games with them.

Bowie was a pretty man, not a pretty boy.

I think it caused a particular kind of shipping to emerge, but I think it would have been stronger without the age difference.

I don't see why that necessarily follows. Look at fandoms like Harry Potter, where there are just as many (if not more) ships that involve teacher/student age differences. Ships with age gaps might appeal to you less than couples who are relatively close in age, but that's clearly not how everyone feels.

Well, not so much as psychopath as a completely alien, near-ageless creature whose mind and morals didn't exactly tick along the same lines as a human's. I'm not sure some popstar would be able to pull off the same... well, fae-ness.
