I would, but that would be every fucking scenario you've posted. And you've been given alternative punishments, but you don't seem to think those are good enough because destruction is not involved.

They're fine punishments, but every broken rule has multiple okay punishments. Texting at dinner? No phone for the night, no dessert, go to your room, you can't go out tonight, etc. That doesn't mean there's only one that should ever be used. And if I chose to send them to bed early, that doesn't mean I'm dismissing the others.

I just don't believe the alternate punishments are actually less severe (and some of them are more) than the one I am suggesting.

Try to look at my arguments without prejudiced: you are assuming a great many things about why I am thinking the way I am, and are therefore reading a lot of malice and abuse into what I'm saying, I assume.

Breaking a child's things is never an "okay punishment", no. And there is no example you have provided where that is not the case to someone who isn't dangerously crazy.
