Wow. I'm really sorry that happened to you. It completely disgusts me when I read/hear stories of people who were sexually abused and then weren't believed by their own family. I'm not sure if you read my other comment, but I've spent the last few days reading stories from people about their sexual abuse, and the vast majority of them were children when it happened. It wasn't until page 40 when I encountered the first story I could find where the child told and was believed by her family the first time. There were more stories of children whose parents WALKED IN ON THEM BEING ABUSED and still got accused of lying than of children who were believed the first time they told. It's disgusting. I honestly think that telling someone you trust (parents, family, friends, teachers, a doctor, etc.) - especially your own family - and not being believed is almost worse than the rape itself.

Anyway, tl;dr @ self, I tend to ramble. I'm really sorry that happened to you, anon, and I'm disgusted that I have to hear about yet another story where a child was not believed. It's atrocious.
