I totally agree with this. In fact, I was just having almost this exact argument this morning. My friend sent me an article where a woman was discussing how common violence towards women is (including rape, sexual assault, spousal abuse, etc.), and probably at least a third of the comments were from men who were trying to say, "BUT INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, WE HAVE TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THOSE ACCUSED MEN UNTIL THE WOMEN CAN PROVE THEY WERE ACTUALLY RAPED!". I understand the sentiment, and I agree that obviously "innocent until proven guilty", and names should not be released until they're found guilty - but it makes me wonder why everybody is so much more concerned about preserving the good names of men (and women) who are being accused of rape than trying to find out whether, and get justice for, a woman (or man, or child) who has been subjected to sexual abuse. No one said "we should try to find the truth so that this woman/man/child can have some justice and hopefully get treatment, and put a bad person in prison". It was, "those women/children need to prove that they aren't lying and stop slandering peoples' good names". Apparently "innocent until proven guilty" only applies to men who are accused of rape, but doesn't apply to women or children who are making the accusation. Apparently for them, it's "assume they're lying until they can prove they aren't".

Edit: Also, sorry, what did you mean by the abuse in the BDSM community? Do you mean that BDSM is inherently abusive?
