He made a deal with her that she killed Mason and he got away - it wasn't exactly a spontaneous action of goodwill.

Not true. When he was a psychiatrist, he helped her for no ulterior motive except that he empathized with her. The reason why he made Verger cut off his face in the first place was was because he was offended by what he had done to her.

Margot really didn't do much in the way of rescuing Hannibal-- that was Clarice. Hannibal had no reason to help her after.
