Warning: Journey's End rant below, may cause kerfuffle

I agree with everything you said about Donna's awesomeness, and I agree that Moffat is a douche (although I have no idea where you pulled that insane troll logic Donna/Amy comparison out of), but if I have to be completely honest...RTD is a way, way, WAY bigger douche, in my eyes, for what he did to Donna in Journey's End.

It was appalling and despicable and I can't believe a guy who created a character as great as Donna thought it was okay to tell the audience "lololol now she's a totally worthless lost cause and her life is meaningless without the Doctor and this is tragic and sad because it makes the Doctor sad, never mind how it affects the woman Donna, oh no, Donna is just a plot point to further the Doctor's deep and intelligent manpain."

More than that, it means that no matter how much I adore Donna, her ending will always be hanging over her character whenever I watch her, I'll always know that everything she learns, every wonder she experiences, every bit of wonderful character development and insight she shows throughout her series is lost forever.

Ugh. Women in Refrigerators doesn't begin to cover it.

Well this was inevitable I suppose...

Um, except Donna's life doesn't end up being worthless without the Doctor. It's pretty clear she moves on and is happy with her life. Your statement implies that a life without the Doctor is not a worthwhile existence - and that's just shit and belittles Donna and her happiness entirely.

And c'mon... Donna's not the first companion to have their entire experience with the Doctor erased from her mind. At least she didn't get dropped back off into the middle of a battlefield.

Or wait, lemme guess - events in Old!Who aren't relevant?

+1

I'm sick of hearing about how worthless Donna's life was after the Doctor. It makes me want to not agree at all with the people who complain about her ending. Yes it sucks that her memory got wiped, yes it sucked that all the things she learned about herself were taken away. IT DOESN'T FUCKING MEAN HER LIFE IS WORTHLESS NOW OR THAT SHE CAN'T RELEARN SOME OF IT IN A DIFFERENT WAY! God damn.

Well...it doesn't help that pretty much all of the characters are implying it is. Looking at her with sad eyes, going "Oh, her life is so pathetic now so sad for her". I mean, it was definitely the vibe the show was giving off at times.

And it's especially creepy that the Doctor basically mindraped her against her will to save her life. It's her life, and she didn't want her memories to be wiped. I at least wish we had a moment of "Ok, go ahead", instead of her crying and begging him to stop.
