My limited experience with livejournal in its heyday was not always great. Sure there were nice little communities, but they were fairly stuck up and exclusive. Tumblr while less interactive, tends to be much more positive and celebratory. It has the occasional bouts of wank here or there but those are easy to ignore.

Also rl obligations > fandom coms.
