#veritylambertkilleddoctorwho

*snort* I really, really, really can't wrap my mind around people who throw shitfits about changes in Doctor Who. The show is literally ALL about change.

And yes I agree, companions are not actually a representative sample of Earth's population. Or even Britain's population. Not everyone makes a good counterpoint to the Doctor. Actually, this is why I tend to really enjoy having more than one companion in the TARDIS: it gives more room for character flexibility, so the two or more characters can pool their different strengths together to serve as a foil for the Doctor rather than having it all on one companions shoulders. I mean, I love duos as well (Ten/Donna and Seven/Ace being my favorites), but, for example, I preferred Nine/Rose/Jack to just Nine/Rose or just Ten/Rose.

You also reminded me that I need to listen to more audios. All the ones with Eight I've gotten my hands on were with Charley.

Oh, man, are you me? Multiple companions in the TARDIS is what I live for. I was unbelievably excited when I realised that Eleven + Amy + Rory was going to be a thing — and I agree with you wrt character flexibility, which is another bonus of having multiple companions at the same time. Anji/Fitz/Eight remains my favourite Team TARDIS, I'm not going to lie.

As far as the audios go, I'm not actually a huge lover of Charley, although I can understand why people enjoyed her as a companion (and the Zagreus arc was pretty fun). Lucie, on the other hand, I thought was fab. I haven't listened to any of the audios in a couple of years though — the last one I listened to was Lucie's 'departure', and that was a few years back. I was always more of a fan of the EDAs, but the audios obviously have the added bonus of Paul Mcgann's voice, which I don't think anyone in their right mind can deny is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Haha YES I just love seeing more than one person around the Doctor. It's not that they're intrinsically better than single companions, but they have a vibe that I LOVE -- the vibe of the Doctor taking his friends/students/adopted family members around on glorious adventures and kind of being their mentor/tour guide/crazy leader friend who always convinces everyone to get into trouble -- which has a tendency to come out a lot more strongly when there's more than one companion.

Thanks for the recs! Always looking for more Who. I used to gobble up the Classic series like mad after I had finished off New Who, but now that I've watched considerably more than half of all Classic serials, I'm irrationally afraid of the idea of "running out" of things I haven't seen.

huff yes, precisely!

You're welcome! I mostly stuck to Eight's audios, although I hear that the vast majority of them are pretty fantastic (particularly Six's, I believe, and ... also Seven's?). I've also heard that BFA's Gallifrey series is absolutely magnificent, and I keep meaning to get around to listening to it myself.

(Because all Doctor Who needs more Gallifrey, okay.)
