I think most people apply the movie characters' looks to the book characters. I'm not defending OP, but that could be why they're still unable to ship them.

That could be and I'm not saying that's bad. My point is that the ship predates the movies and there is always carry over in those cases. That, and dismissing the pre-movie fans and their take on it is just as douchey as saying the movie fans are doing it wrong.

Basically, shipping isn't just about pretty boys bumping yummy bit for everyone. *shrugs*
