No one is obligated to chain themselves to a website just to offer support / keep in contact / share their private life with someone else.
If this friend meant absolutely anything to you, you would be whining less about abandoning sites, and wondering more why you don't have any alternatives like talking to them on an instant messenger or adding them on Facebook.
And if leaving a website is enough to make it seem as if they're "abandoning" you, then maybe you should step back from your stalker mindset and take a second to figure out how strong your "friendship" even was, to be broken up this easily.
