From someone who is lucky enough to have both a male best friend and a close relationship with her brother - yeah, there's a difference.

It's really hard to explain but I guess with my brother, while we do get along, we can also get into more arguments with each other that are allowed to be more volatile than with a best friend because, even if we fall out, there'll always be a bond of blood keeping us together and we'd make up at some point. You're allowed to pick on each other more. Whereas if I have an argument with my best friend it upsets me more because we could just part ways and never see each other again or grow distant from each other as lose touch (as has happened with friends in the past).

Also I'd be willing to spend more time with my best friend going out and having fun whereas with my brother it's more domestic. Also their are certain things you tell your best friend which you don't tell your brother and vice versa.

Yes but we're still talking about people who are "like" brother and sister not actually are brother and sister... so while you have a point regarding actual siblings I'm not sure it works in this case.
