If they did, then s/he would keep in touch with certain individuals regardless of his/her choice of medium (and, for all you know, maybe s/he does. Maybe you're just not one of them). You have no right to insist that such a person maintain certain ties or continue to use a certain medium. And, actually, even if you were friends IRL with this person, you still would not have that sort of right.
This person doesn't owe you shit. You're someone who happened to follow their journal. They are allowed to do what they fucking want with it, with or without your approval. And that includes choosing to abandon it. You strike me as being incredibly selfish and unwillingly to acknowledge the agency of other individuals. In other words, you suck.
