Use "fanmail" then instead of ask box. There is no word limit, at least that I've been able to reach and I can be REALLLLLLLY wordy. So nothing gets chopped up any more than an email would. it is perfectly easy to have huge conversations. In private. 100% PRIVATE. (as private as a website can be I guess) Unlike asks, there is no way to accidentally hit publish on a fanmail response so the only way it will be public is if your friend is a dickhead and screencaps that shit and posts it.

Friendships CAN transfer over. I've done it. And I am the laziest sod on the planet. It's really easy to go back and forth in fanmail, in private. If you do these things and your friend still isn't talking to you, maybe they just don't like you anymore. Sorry.

Holy shit. Proof positive that middle schoolers are in fandoms.

they don't like you anymore? fucking hell, what is this, some school yard?

I CAN'T BE FRIENDS WITH YOU BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE. YOU'RE A BIG STINKY POOPY HEAD.

Maybe it's more likely that they didn't necessarily have a falling out but had been growing apart. It's very possible they didn't want contact with OP anymore. Or maybe they just don't like LJ and feel it doesn't foster their fandom activity anymore.

...Dude.

Dude.

Maybe you have friends who you flat out don't like, but the point of friends is that they are supposed to be people you like, not people you tolerate. If i don't like someone anymore, regardless of the reason, i'm probably not going to stay friends with them for very long, and that's not a point of drama. It's not about maturity, it's not about WEH YOU'RE A POOPFACE, it's just that people don't always like each other forever and sometimes (especially when they stop having interests in common) they can just drift apart emotionally. No one's obligated to stay friends with people just because. What the hell.

If someone's not talking to you anymore, despite attempts you've made with them, then yeah maybe they don't want to be friends anymore. Ignoring you might be rude, but not being friends anymore isn't.
