An actual not-homophobic reason for wanting a character to not be a lesbian - not bad! I suppose that's why you're okay with the idea of her being bi, you just want the option of her being into guys. ...Is she a monosexual lesbian in the comic?

In the comic she's just a girl. And she happens to currently be attracted to another girl.

I like it better this way, to be honest.

Yeah, I thought Kanaya was the only lesbian confirmed thus far. It's pretty cool to see a gay monosexual even in a group of supposed pansexuals.

I dunno that bugs me a little because she's part of a race who doesn't even see "gay" as a thing. I just see her as a troll with...troll orientation ("pansexual" would be the term, yes, but I doubt the trolls would use it) who just happens to have a thing for the ladies.

Eh, I like it. It shows a group that doesn't consider 'gay' or 'straight' as things that are worth mentioning, but still has romance mostly go female/male, with a lot of same sex attractions and relationships going on right behind that, and very occasionally those that do only go for the same sex. Like humans, without anyone caring about labels.

I will never, ever, ever tire of random silly AUs when the Trolls are out clubbing/at a bar/in marchingband/whatever.

(also, I know two super super good fics that have Karkat<>Kanaya, if you're interested! But they're both well known in fandom, so you probably know them already?)

I'm interested! I'm assuming one is Promstuck (because you said marchingband), what's the other?

One is definitely Promstuck! Slash Marchingstuck as a whole, because it's silly cracky goodness, and never fails to make me laugh. (fun fact: I was in a marchingstuck RP for a bit. I was Rose).

The other is Frontierstuck by ShinjiShazaki. It's the first of her Alchemystuck series (first chapter of the second part was posted yesterday!), and takes place in a steampunk/western inspired AU. Mostly focuses on Rose<3Kanaya, but Kanaya's more or less the viewpoint character, so her relationship with Karkat is also given a good deal of attention.

(but mostly, fabulous magic-wielding steampunk lesbians)

I see her as a troll with a preference. She happens to like the ladies. Not much different from, say, me saying I happen to prefer guys with dark hair (I made that up, but you get the point).
