For a girl, Leah has been #1 for a long time. I also like Allison and Isabel (not Isabella). And Katja, a lot, but I think it's a little too unusual for the US.

For a boy, Liam or Ian (but not Liam + Leah), I also like Alexander and Jonathan (but not so much Jon and I really don't like John, so that's problematic). I would likely go with something that would work with the middle name David, because that's both my father's and grandfather's first name, and I never got to meet my grandfather.
