Why is the selective serve guy being an idiot? Focusing on the wrong thing perhaps, but surely the answer there is 'you're right, go bug your local congressman about it, next question'.

See, I say the whole "go speak to your congressman" line every time I hear someone complain that men in the US have to sign up for SS and women in don't, and the answer is either resounding silence, or the occasional "I did, but s/he said it was never going to happen with all the social conservatives in the House".

Yet, in spite of having received the information directly from a close source that social conservatives are to blame (which indeed they are, NOW - the US's largest feminist organization - fought for the inclusion of women into SS in a number of legal battles, only to defeated by said conservatives) they proceed on their merry way spouting DURR HURR WOMEN DON'T HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR THE DRAFT BECAUSE FEMINISTS DON'T REALLY WANT ~~EQUALITY~~ all across the internet.

I'm getting the impression that in fact they don't actually want women to have to register because that would get rid of one of their favourite gripes/MRA talking points - and because they know they'll never actually have to go to war unless they want to because reinstating the draft would be political suicide now, so they'll gladly take on this meaningless, empty "sacrifice" in return for something to whinge about and lord over American feminists.
