It's weird, growing up, I was never super patriotic (and I wasn't even born in the US, although I'm a citizen now). But then I worked within the military community for about a year and a half out of college and it was just...an entirely different perspective on things for me.

And now I'd say I'm pretty patriotic in my own way (as in, I love America for what it is on a small scale and has the potential to be, while recognizes that in so very many ways it's kind of fucked, but what I want more than anything is to be part of fixing it, so that's a lot of feelings there).
