They won't mind as long as everyone is shipped with Rudy.

Nobody minds being shipped with Rudy.

    But...but...why did you delete?

(You'll probably never even see this now. Oh dear fuck, why has this happened?)

    Rudy is a beautiful man.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's not gay to want to fuck Rudy.

I'm starting to think that my definition of "squick" isn't the same as everyone elses. When I say something squicks me... I really really don't want to read it. It's upsetting and I feel gross.
These RPF/incest secrets we've been getting lately seem to use the word to mean something that discomforts them intellectually and they feel bad about liking. Not arguing with the secret, I just can't imagine myself actually seeking out fic that "squicks" me.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. I get squicked so badly by certain things that I have to fast forward through parts of shows or leave the room if someone else is watching and I cannot fast forward. I would never ever seek out fic that hit a squick of mine. *shudders*

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
You hate RPF except for when you don't. Something we have never heard here before.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
    You could always stop coming.

But then again, maybe you can't.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, Generation Kill. How I love thee. I hope the real guys never stumble onto any fic.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
You can't seriously think that those guys don't know how to Google.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
    (NA)

I hope they're smart enough not to Google into something they don't actually want to see.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
James Ransone knows about it. He backtracked the hell out of the fandom after that.

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
What is this show and what makes it "not-quite-RPF" as opposed to "real" RPF?

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's a miniseries based on a book based on some articles an imbedded reporter wrote about his experience with a group of Recon Marines during OIF. Names remain the same, etc. Oh, and a couple of the guys came in as tech advisers and ended up with roles in the series. (Then there's Rudy, who is such a special unicorn that he ended up playing himself.)

It's Generation Kill. It's a mini-series based on a book written by Evan Wright, a Rolling Stone journalist, about the USMC battalion that he was embedded with in Iraq. It would be RPF because the "characters" are directly based off of the USMC soldiers in that battalion, but not really since the stories are based off of the mini-series and out of the mind of this reporter.

The Odinsons are normal people who live in Chicago. They can't have a second child and adopt Loki from Russia. He was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and the older he gets, the more out of control he becomes. When his aging parents can't deal with him anymore and decide to institutionalize him, Thor promises to take over, and that they can leave Loki to him after they move to Florida. What his parents don't know is that to keep others safe from Loki, Thor has build a dungeon under his bookshop, outfitted with all comforts but nothing dangerous, and if necessary he can put Loki in bondage when he has a meltdown. While at first there is nothing funny going on, he has always been fascinated with how different Loki looks from him, with how pretty he is in spite of his relentlessly psychopathic ways. In a bid to escape, Loki notices, and tries to seduce him. Loki succeeds in the latter, repeatedly, but not the first.

Bonus if Thor angsts a great deal about hurting his poor baby brother and betraying the trust his parents put in him. Extra bonus if Loki enjoys Thor's angsting. Extra extra bonus if Thor is engaged to Jane Foster but has to break it off to protect his secret. Loki should be at least 17/18, and Thor several years older, but not over 30, young enough to have lived at home while Loki grew up.

No torture, no rape, no scat, no disciplining other than restraints, and no redeemed!Loki please, he's genuinely not aware that the things he does and say are unacceptable, and he never will be.

agreed that genkill has some of the consistently best fic in any of the fandoms i've been in. and i've been in a lot of fandoms.

as for the rest of the secret--yeah i feel weird about reading/writing for pseudo-rpf fandoms too. but i wouldn't be surprised if the guys knew--and i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care either. when you've gone through the shitstorm of iraq, i think you've been through worse than having gay porn written about you on the internet.

............also, casually plugs my fave fic of all time:

Yeah, my bet would be they have more important things to worry about.

    (Anonymous) 2013-02-02 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
    Love that fic!

    (Anonymous) 2013-02-08 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
    Oh, I love that fic!

    (Anonymous) 2013-01-30 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, don't sweat it OP. I'm pretty sure it's not possible to come away from that show thinking that Fick and Colbert don't have some kind of thing going.

Even if you don't actively seek it out, the subtext is just way too immense to be ignored.
