You should definitely see Madoka because no matter what will happen to you when you watch it, it's still a good anime.

I want to watch some new anime, including anime I didn't get to like Kids on the Slope.

Kids on the Slope rocks big time and is pretty true to the manga until you get to the last ep. There's just so much that happens in the final part of the manga that they couldn't get it all into the last episode. Both are equally delightful, so I suggest reading along as you watch the anime. The only part I think is significantly better in the manga is the last part.
