That's all right? I like some of these, and don't like others. I read the ones I like and avoid the ones I don't. It's not very difficult. Ship whatever you want to ship.

I'm kind of neutral on the pair myself, but as a rule I tend to really dislike rivalslash so it could be something like that...?

Ah, I was mostly kidding. I understand why people might not like PruAus - especially if they like another pairing in the Frying Pangle.

(I wouldn't call them rivals exactly, though; there's hints at them being friendly, and in modern day it's mostly Prussia trying to annoy Austria.)

(Then again, most rival pairs in Hetalia could be interpreted as lacking real animosity.)

Yeah they don't actually come across as rival-ish as most Hetalia 'rivals' to me. Maybe it's because yes Austria acts annoyed by Prussia, but everyone is annoyed by Prussia and everything annoys Austria.

I would avoid them if I could. A lot of fics I've read toss these ships in without warning, as though they're just assumed. I can honestly understand not bothering to label something if it only pops up for a few sentences or as a throw-away reference, but it gets irritating when it's almost exclusively ships that negatively impact my enjoyment of the story.

Small instances like that wouldn't bother me at all if they didn't come up so frequently. Even then, I never meant to imply it was anyone's problem but my own.

The Hetalia fandom has a big problem with not actually listing the pairings that are in their fics. Sometimes they're quite substantially featured, and they still won't list them.
