and I know there might be a lot of annoying people around sqeeing over his good looks, but I tend not to mention it, 'cause as soon as you say you find someone attractive people don't believe you when you say they've got talent.

Well said! I think this explains why I never found Legolas/Orlando hot while all the others were like worshiping him or why I almost always find the older actors more attractive. It must be the acting. Orlando lacks the CHARISMA which comes with talent. Meanwhile I totally swooned after Thorin. Not just because of his looks but because of the way he carries himself! Armitage could express so many things with his subtle acting. Like in the scene where Bilbo tells them that he'll help them because they have no home, Thorin's freaking face and little gestures told me so many things! That's freaking talent!
