That The Gayness of Dirk needing to be confirmed for anyone reactions are kind of annoying the way The Lesbeing of Kanaya is still apparently a thing that people argue about.

I am digging the pesterlogs though because fictional teenagers are adorable.

I dunno, I kinda understood that.

Dirk has specifically avoided the label of gay. So there was some fair specuation in my opinion that he could be bisexual. Though unlike some rabid folks, I did not assume fact or argue with others about it.

And now that it has been confirmed, won't try some weird denial where "but what did he mean by orientation?" is a question I unironically ask. It means Dirk doesn't like labels and does like boys (and not girls)

Maybe it's because I keep looking in the wrong circles, or catching /co/ on particularly awful threads, but it was less about wanting clarification on what specific label to use (or not use!), and more about making sure their shipping wasn't obstructed or gayness not gaying up their like of a character.

On a somewhat related thing, homosexual was pretty much a medical diagnosis, so being gay technically wasn't a thing until it was given that label, although orientations certainly were a thing. Dirk not wanting to use labels, but still being not-straight identified seemed obvious and pointless to make clear. To me anyways.

I'm not saying folk couldn't have been legit confused or curious, just that not everything needs to be completely spelled out.
