IDK, while the quality of the show certainly dropped near the end, it wasn't all bad. (Just about everything has it's moments though, so I guess that's not saying much.)

Still, sorry that happened OP. :(

I doubt that's something you're going to forget, but maybe try watching an episode or two, see if you can shake it off? Or just read up on it. Might not be exactly the same, but at least you'll know what happens.

House's character (and Hugh Laurie's physicality to some extent) reminded me of my dad from the very start -- it's spooky, actually, how similar they are: attitude, intellect, music tastes, the sound of the voice/accent, age, forehead wrinkles. The thing that cinched it for me though was a scene in which House is repairing his Flying V on his desk in his office. My dad made guitars when I was still living at home and for several years, my most vivid memories of him consisted of him hunched over a table in his workshop filing the fretboard of a reproduction '59 Les Paul. Literally the only thing missing from that scene in House was a pair of magnifying goggles and a ponytail. Now I pretty much watch House whenever I miss my dad and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside....

While the last season had some terrible, terrible shark jumping moments, the last 5 or so episodes were great. Both Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard are amazing. If you want closure, I recommend just watching those.

By the way, what did end up happening? I just couldn't watch the show anymore, it kind of got unbearable to sit through an entire episode.

Wilson got inoperable cancer, House took care of him and then faked his death to spend Wilson's last months with him. The last scene of the show was them riding off on motorcycles together. Only relevant part tbh

I wanted to watch Dead Like Me, but then I realised that the actress looked like a horrible friend I had, so I couldn't watch it anymore. Pity, it was a good show.

Eh. I mean the cases tended to be gimmicky, but I liked that the later seasons had Wilson start loosening way up. And if you don't finish you won't get to see the thing with the chickens!

My dad and I have a very limited relationship, and we discovered a few years ago that we were both huge House fans. It was pretty much the only thing we would talk about during our 4-5 yearly phone conversations. I realized eventually that the main reason my dad liked it was that House was a complete ass (like my dad) but still got to be the hero of the story, and that, along with the decreasing quality of the show, really spoiled the whole thing for me.
