I never thought about that. I'd especially like to read some stuff about right after the banishment.

(& Azula going to school & falling under control of her father, but this secret is about Zuko and Iroh!)

I'll understand if you're leery because of its association with the film, but the prequel comic Zuko's Story actually deals with the immediate aftermath of Zuko's banishment, and does so in a way that's completely compatible with the show canon—the writers and artist are all huge fans of the series, and it shows.

I know there's a pretty long Zuko/Jee out there somewhere that was heavy on the interesting characters and adventures, low on the romance.

If it's People in the Mirror you're thinking about, it's... well, it's pretty heavy on the romance now, but also still heavy on the characters and adventures.

(It's actually my favorite fic in the fandom right now. Damn, that story is fantastic.)
