That is a pretty awesome line. (-:

I picked Sandy because I'm most freaked out at night, so he was kind of my personal champion in that movie. :)

Ah, ok.
He was really awesome. (-:

Well, it definitely works. Don't feel silly about it.

I have equal ways of coping with my fears.

I have not seen this movie, but I really like that line and I can easily see how it would be empowering and comforting. Go you!

Also, sidenote, I was afraid of the dark for a really really long time. Well into my 20s. So don't feel alone in that regard.

I WOULD READ THE FUCK OUT OF RPS AU IN WHICH BAMF!TALIBAN!TILDA GETS DOMMED & SEXUALLY TORTURED BY BOND!HIDDLES, AND I'D WANK TO IT TOO :9

Poor Pitch Black... he just needs a hug. For me it's more like:

"I do believe in you, I'm just not afraid of you. ...but I respect your basic human need for companionship and wish that we could find a way to balance your need to be seen and believed in with your need to spread fear."

20-year-old who was inspired to overcome her fear of going out and around her new city on her own by this kid's movie here. You are so not alone.

(Although it actually rekindled some of my long-overcome fear of the dark, so...mixed blessing.)

Oh man, I'm well into my 20's and still creeped out by pitch black darkness. I've always had a lamp or night light for night.

I'm not even embarrassed by it. It is what it is.

I guess that was the only positive lesson that kids could learn from this movie. That the Boogeyman wasn't scary (the "Boogeyman" and Co. are real phenomena, they often acompany sleep paralysis or other night terrors, so it's good for kids to know that while these things do happen "in their head", they are not dangerous. Just uncomfortable)

Sorry for the rant, but I used to have terrible nightmares as a kid, I was a sleepwalker and I saw the "Boogeyman" standing at my bed and such.
So nowadays I'm really interested in sleep, dreams and all the psycholgical stuff that comes with it. I don't have night terrors anymore due to a similar "technique" they describe in the movie.
I learned to accept the images, but I also learned that they are not real and I should just see them as my brain trying to annoy me.

I learned Lucid Dreaming and whenever such a gruesome nightmare appeared I twisted it into something dumb.
Like, the monster would trip and fall or just start to dance like an idiot.

I sleep like a baby nowadays :)

Since when is a sentiment invalidated because it's a kids movie? A lot of awesome things were said by Albus Dumbledore (especially 1-3), and no one says, "SB kids' movie."

Since people need to really reach to come up with a secret.

As Chesterton said:

“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.”

That picture scares me and I'm more than twice your age.
