Thanks for the explanation. I actually got off my lazy butt and read Hussie's explanation sometime after making this secret, which at least explained why it was theoretically funny and why some people found it offensive. I still don't find it especially funny, but at least I'm not so confused.

I don't find it hilarious either, but homestuck is like 47% puns anyway, so I feel like the 'peach' version fits and is cuter.

the new joke hass three callbacks;

the expressive fruit, edible tricksters, and old jargon.
