My personal feelings on this is...in the end, when they all turn up at the airport to welcome Colin Firth's character home, the three of them are there, so my headcanon is that somehow, it all came out in the open to Peter, and there was a big emotional week or so of fighting and stuff, and then Peter and Juliet decided they wanted a third person in their life so now they're all happily cohabiting.
