IMO it's just the usual thing of the grass looking greener on the other side. I remember waxing lyrical about how wonderful US high schools must be back when I was a teenager, because they had lockers, and proms, and everyone had enough money to get a car the moment they passed their driving test... I seriously doubt it would have seemed so wonderful if I was actually at a US high school as opposed to a UK comprehensive. Then I expect I'd have been banging on about how great some other school system was.

My only wish is that fandom peeps would get into the British stuff I like, cos I'm not a big fan of Dr Who or Sherlock. :( /selfish.
