Oh, man. Those books scared the shit out of me as a kid.

The scariest story (and an idea that still scares me shitless) is the one where the guy closes his eyes and CAN STILL SEE THE GHOST COMING FOR HIM! Aaaack!

It's the one where the guy is waiting upstairs in the house and the ghost slowly comes up the stairs to get him. Him being able to still see her when he closes his eyes is a minor part of the story; it just really freaked me out as a kid and stuck with me as a result. :)

I think he might be a preacher? IDK It's been more than 20 years since I read those books. :)
