but when she finds out his feelings accidentally he tells her yes, he loves her, and that he thinks she's deserving of love, but that he expects nothing in return and he won't be trying to get with her. And he means it.

Exactly! I have no idea how anyone got anything but THIS from that scene. It baffles me. He specifically says that he's telling her that he loves her because it's Christmas, and that she's a lovely person, and that he has no home or agenda about it all. He just wants he to know that she's loved.

How the hell does anyone comes out of that thinking "creepy"? It's damn depressing...
