I've been in love with British TV all my life, I love British comedy, I'm interested in British politics and studied British history.

Like any society, they've got their problems, as well as their successes - and I hate it when people draw conclusions based on some surface analysis of popular television shows. Yep, comedians are more comfortable making jokes about screwing each other even if they're both men, but that doesn't mean a magical lack of homophobia. There's quite a bit of diversity in casting as well, often in ways that don't fit US racial stereotypes, but that doesn't mean there isn't racism.

If there's anything I've learned in all my life of consuming media, it's that you cannot draw conclusions about a society or a culture by just watching their media and not taking in the wider context of politics, history etc. I sometimes catch myself doing that and then slapping myself - doesn't matter if it's the US, India, the UK, Japan, Korea or Bulgaria. Context fucking matters, weeaboos wouldn't be weeaboos if they understood that.
