I was kind of surprised when this film didn't end with Chloe and Aubrey getting together. I thought it was obvious that Chloe had a crush on Beca (sorry OP, didn't think Beca returned it) and Aubrey was jealous. I don't often come out of films with non-canon ships, this one was just so obvious to me!

The movie definitely strongly implied that Aubrey was the one-in-ten lesbian of the group, so I have no idea why they didn't go with that unless people higher up in the food chain than the writers vetoed it. Because that red herring really doesn't add to the movie in any way (except to fuel the imagination of femslashers, lol.)

Well, there were already at least two other lesbians in the group. And I read Chloe as being a lesbian more than Aubrey, myself.

Wait, when I said Aubrey I meant Chloe. I think I just read Aubrey as repressed, so matter her sexuality. I would probably guess straight for her because of her weird thing about none of the other girls getting with the boy acappella singers, you know, jealousy over other girls being able to express their desire - but you could just as easily read that as her being jealous of the boys who get the girls. So, no clear indication with her, only Chloe, ha.

Thank you! There is so much Beca/Chloe around I've started to second guess myself. I definitely went through the whole movie thinking Aubrey was gay and pining after Chloe.

Sorry anon, I got confused and did actually mean Chloe in my comment. Buuuuuuut, as I said above, I think you could very easily read Aubrey as gay - and if so, probably crushing on Chloe - I just didn't think the movie implied anything specific about her sexuality other than that it was repressed. And as such I'm sure there are quite a few other people who read her like you did :)

I don't know if it's just a rumour, but weren't they actually supposed to get together, but then they changed their minds? (Because having a lesbian couple in a movie that is not about the woes of homosexuality is unacceptable!)

I adored this movie to bits, but I was so sad that that "one of us is probably a lesbian" line wasn't foreshadowing for Chloe confessing something along those lines when they were sharing things later on. DISAPPOINTED!!!

(But I like to pretend that after the movie Beca and Jesse broke up amicably, and then Chloe could admit her big lesbian crush.)
