This sounded really interesting when I saw it on Netflix, but I couldn't deal with the art. I hate that thing where the pattern stays static while the character moves. Should I give it another try? Is it really that good?

I like the art style and CoMC is my all-time favorite book, so...suffice it to say this is one of my all-time favorite anime series. If you can't stomach the art style, though, You're Gonna Have a Bad Time. Still, the series is really great. Also, the music is the best.

I've never seen it, but I was going to comment about how the art in the secret is giving me a headache. Their faces have shadowing, but their bodies don't.

The art style calms down ...

It bugged me too when I first watched, but it seems as though later eps weren't as bad. (Perhaps they didn't move as much. Or I got used to it. Or I was swept up in the story. (It's possibly my favorite anime, but even i admit the first few eps are a little slow).

Also - if you can, watch it subbed. (Crunchyroll used to have it.) Watching the subtitles seems to dampen the dizzies from the patterns, since you've got something else to look at.

(plus, Jouji Nakata and Kouji Ishii's voices are pure sex.)
