Given that individuals who are coded as a particular gender are expected to behave and speak in a certain way; and given that a trans* individual is going to have felt pressure to behave and speak in a way that conforms to his/her assigned gender prior to realizing/accepting that s/he is trans*...I think I can safely pinpoint the genesis of your "ability."

At the same time, it's pretty offensive for you to put "men" in quotes. A FtM individual identifies as male, and typically has genetic and biological reasons for doing so (even if they do not, it's still who they are). It's extremely disrespectful for you to treat such identity as false or ironic.
